HHS brings health and wellness to North Dakota State Fair

MINOT, ND (JULY 17, 2025) - North Dakota Health and Human Services (HHS) is bringing a strong presence to the 2025 North Dakota State Fair in Minot, offering fairgoers access to valuable health information, wellness resources and opportunities to connect with health and human services experts.

Mobile Medical Unit: Supporting safety and public engagement

Located on the fairgrounds, the HHS Mobile Medical Unit will serve two key roles throughout the fair:

Emergency response support: The unit will be on-site to assist Trinity Hospital in the event of a major medical incident, providing critical support if needed to any large-scale emergencies.
Public engagement: When not in active emergency use, the unit will be open for tours and staffed by members of the HHS Public Health Division. Visitors can explore the unit and access a wide range of health and safety materials focused on:

Child passenger safety
Poison prevention
Safe sleep
North Dakota Medical Reserve Corps
Special health services
Life.ND.gov wellness resources
Infectious disease prevention and control
Immunization information and kids’ activity books
Info on Gateway to Health event, which is scheduled for Aug. 23 in Bismarck.
Family Day Festival

Family Day Festival

Representatives from various HHS programs will participate in the Family Day Festival on Tuesday, July 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. under the SRT Festival Tent near Gate E.

Parents and caregivers can learn about the importance of Medicaid wellness visits for infants, children and teens; how to become a foster care provider and find out about the benefits of quality child care.

Parents Lead Booth: Conversations that matter

Parents Lead will be set up in the Commercial II Building, promoting their program, which helps parents and caregivers support their children’s behavioral health through meaningful communication and connection.

This year’s theme, “There’s no right time. Just start talking,” encourages families to use everyday moments—like meals, walks or drives—as opportunities to check in and connect.

The Parents Lead booth will feature:

Interactive conversation boards,
Family-friendly activities, and
Tools to support behavioral health at home.

In addition to Parents Lead materials, the booth will offer information and resources on a wide range of behavioral health topics, including:

988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline,
Free naloxone kits (an over-the-counter medication that rapidly reverses an opioid overdose), and
Services and supports available for individuals and families facing mental health or substance use challenges.
