ND Health and Human Services celebrates second annual Public Health Thank You Day
BISMARCK, N.D. – On Monday, Nov. 21, as part of a national recognition, North Dakota Health and Human Services (HHS) celebrates Public Health Thank You Day.
Public Health Thank You Day is a day to encourage North Dakotans to express gratitude for public health’s extraordinary contributions to the public good. Nationally, the Monday before Thanksgiving has been recognized by APHA, Research!America as a day to express gratitude for the work done by public health professionals.
“Public health workers are our front-line defense that engages with communities to provide health education and disease prevention,” said Dr. Nizar Wehbi, N.D. State Health Officer. “We are grateful for our public health heroes for all their work and dedication to ensure our citizens have access to health care and are safe and protected.”
HHS encourages the public to celebrate these hardworking individuals as they continue to fight the spread of COVID-19 and work to advance public health by saying “Thank You” to individuals who work or have worked in public health.
“Public health workers are all around us and their efforts strengthen our communities,” said Marie Moe, HHS communications director. “Public health professionals provide important services in our communities for individuals throughout their life. Whether in person or online, sharing our gratitude is a small way we can reinforce our appreciation for the work public health professionals do each day.”
One can show gratitude by saying Thank You to a public health worker they know, or by simply logging into Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn and displaying gratitude with a “Public Health Thank You Day” post. Don’t forget to use the hashtags #PHTYD and #PublicHealthHeroes!
