BISMARCK, ND - North Dakota Health and Human Services (HHS) Interim Commissioner Dirk Wilke today announced the resignation of Deputy Commissioner Sara Stolt, thanking her for six years of service to the citizens of North Dakota. Stolt’s last day will be April 30.
Stolt has served North Dakota since February 2019 when she was selected as a transformation manager for Human Services. She became the chief operations officer in December 2019 and was part of the integration leadership team before being selected for deputy commissioner. She has served in the position since September 2022.
Stolt resigned her role to accept a leadership position with Noridian Healthcare Solutions.
‘I’m grateful for Sara’s contributions and dedication to supporting North Dakotans,” said Wilke. “Her tenure has been defined by bold transformation, strategic innovation and a deep commitment to improving services across the state.”
During her leadership, Stolt led the transformation of county social services into regional human service zones, strengthening service delivery and accountability statewide. She also advanced improvements in child welfare for foster care, adoption and licensing. Stolt formed the agency’s Transformation Office to sustain progress and guide organizational change.
“It’s been an honor to serve the people of North Dakota through my work at HHS,” said Stolt. “I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together and deeply appreciative of the dedicated team whose commitment to helping communities inspires me every day.”
